Mavericks Announce Opening Day Roster

Brett Hammond and Cole Ruwe waived

INDEPENDENCE, Missouri – Missouri Mavericks’ Head Coach Scott Hillman announced Thursday the Central Hockey League (CHL) team’s opening day roster.  In order to get to the team’s roster limit, the Mavericks waived forward Brett Hammond and defenseman Cole Ruwe.

“These decisions are based on trying to make our hockey club better,” said Hillman.  “Certain players seem to have gelled together on the ice and I was having trouble finding the right position and role for Brett Hammond.  This is one of the toughest decisions I have had to make in my time as a coach.  Brett is a quality man and hockey player.  He will be missed by his teammates by our organization and our fans.  We wish him and Cole Ruwe the very best.”

Missouri currently has 20 players on the roster although forward Simon Watson will start the season on the injured reserve.  Of the 20 players, the Mavericks currently have three goaltenders, 11 forwards and six defensemen.

Missouri will begin the regular season this Friday, October 15 against the Odessa Jackalopes at 7:05 p.m. at Independence Events Center.  Tickets for all 33 regular season home games are on sale now starting at just $14 per game.  Mini-plans, season tickets and group tickets are also available by calling (816) 252-7825 or visit for more information.
